Pioneering the global discussion forums in Sri Lanka, The International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM) organized the World Conference on Women’s Studies (WCWS) 2017 for the 03rd successful time at Hotel Taj Samudra, Colombo on 04-06 May, 2017 with the participation of 120+ local and foreign delegates representing more than 25 diverse countries all around the world. The conference was also rich with several important partnerships including Bridgewater State University as the Hosting Partner of the conference, Nepal Centre for Contemporary Research, Centre of Excellence for Women’s Studies of University of Karachi, Rikkiyo University and, International Centre for Research on Women as the Academic Partners.
The conference was chaired by Diana J. Fox, PhD – Professor and Chairperson of Department of Anthropology, Journal of International Women’s Studies, Bridgewater, USA, and keynote speakers of the conference; Prof. Patricia Mohammed – Professor of Gender and Cultural Studies, Chair, School for Graduate Studies and Research at the University of the West Indies, Trinidad, West Indies, Dr. Ravi Verma -Regional Director of International Centre for Research on Women’s (ICRW), India and NeelaMarikkar – Chairperson/Managing Director of Grant Group also shared their opinions and insights at the key note forum of the conference.
The participants not only got the opportunity to listen to world class speakers during the conference, but also got the opportunity to share their research findings at the technical sessions in it. In addition to these, there were also some other special features in the conference such as Round Table Discussions, Student’s Gatherings, Publication Workshops and Networking Dinner. The organizing committee expects have this conference in a yearly basis, while making more improvements in the quality and quantity aspects.
